How mid-term rates actually work
Why a 28-night booking costs less per night than four separate weekends, and when it is worth asking for a monthly rate.
A nightly rate is priced for a weekend: two turnovers, two cleans, two sets of linen and a gap in the calendar either side. A month is priced for none of that, which is why the per-night number drops as soon as you cross the four-week line.
Most of the drop happens at 28 nights, not 30. In California a stay of 30 days or more changes the tax treatment as well, so the total you pay can fall twice over — once on the rate, once on the tax.
If your dates are close to the line, say so when you enquire. Moving a checkout by two days is usually worth more than any discount we could offer on the original booking.
